Beyoncé Handles Stage Scare With Humor After Flying Car Malfunctions at Houston ‘Cowboy Carter’ Show

Beyoncé’s homecoming stop on her “Cowboy Carter” Tour in Houston drew major buzz, but not for the reasons anyone expected.

As the superstar prepared to close out her Saturday (June 28) concert with her signature “16 Carriages” finale, the show was abruptly upended when her iconic flying car prop malfunctioned, leaving her suspended mid-air above the crowd.

With the car tilting awkwardly overhead, Beyoncé was left dangling as crew scrambled to bring her safely back to the stage. True to form, Queen Bey kept her composure, reassuring her Houston fans that she knew they would’ve caught her if she had fallen.

After the show, she shared a photo of the lopsided car on Instagram, pairing it with a second post soundtracked to fellow Houstonian Paul Wall’s classic “Sittin’ Sidewayz”—showing her signature humor despite the tense moment.

The incident led Beyoncé to scrap both the car and her “16 Carriages” performance for Sunday’s (June 29) show, prompting a mix of relief and laughter online. While a few fans expressed disappointment, most were glad to see the problematic car “impounded.”

“KEEP THE CAR PARKED!” one fan urged in the comments, while another joked, “The car finally got impounded, thank you for taking it out.” Others praised Beyoncé’s lighthearted approach: “At least she can kiki about it now,” one fan wrote, while Love & Hip Hop’s Bambi added, “Ok girl, we wasn’t laughing at all. But we can relax now.”

The malfunction didn’t stop Beyoncé from delivering on star power, with the Houston crowd also treated to a special duet with Miley Cyrus as they performed “II Most Wanted” together for the first time.

Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” Tour continues July 4 in Landover, Maryland, with upcoming stops in Atlanta and a final run in Las Vegas on July 26.
