Michael Jordan Leaves Generous €10,000 Tip While Dining in Athens

NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan continues to make headlines, this time, for his generosity off the court. During a recent trip to Athens, Greece, the basketball legend reportedly left a €10,000 (approximately $11,600) tip at the popular restaurant Papaioannou, according to Greek City Times.

Jordan, who was vacationing in Spetses and also attended the “Board of Greatness” event hosted by Jordan Brand, dined at the acclaimed seafood restaurant alongside a number of basketball stars. The exclusive event attracted NBA names like Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Dončić, Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, and Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo.

Sources say the lavish meal, prepared personally by chef George Papaioannou, featured Mediterranean favorites including sea bass sashimi, grilled lobster, shrimp skewers, and the catch of the day.

Michael Jordan was seen expressing his gratitude to the chef and staff, reportedly noting how the Greek setting embodied the spirit of competition and legacy that he wants the Jordan Brand to represent.

Speaking at the event, Jordan told guests, “I am thrilled that the Jordan family is here for this special gathering. It is fitting that we are in Greece, the birthplace of the Olympic Games and modern sports.

We began this event believing it was important for us to come together and set the tone for where Jordan Brand is headed, while upholding our commitment to the Brand’s legacy of excellence.”

Jordan has since departed Greece and is said to be preparing for a new role in sports media. NBC announced earlier this year that when NBA broadcasts return to the network in October, Jordan will join NBC Sports’ coverage as a special contributor.

While details of his new position are under wraps, it marks the basketball icon’s first official role as a TV analyst, interviewer, or commentator.

NBC’s return to broadcasting NBA games this fall comes after a 23-year hiatus, adding another chapter to both Jordan’s and the network’s storied legacies.
