In true Perry fashion, he tagged the franchise’s core cast—Jill Scott, Lamman Rucker, Richard T. Jones, Janet Jackson, Sharon Leal, Michael Jai White, and Tasha Smith—sending fans into a frenzy online. Denise Boutte, who played the infamous Trina in Why Did I Get Married Too?, chimed in with a cheeky comment: “Who thinks Trina needs a comeback?!?!”

Tasha Smith followed up by reposting the announcement with a one-word caption that longtime fans couldn’t miss: “BOOM”—a direct nod to her character’s unforgettable outburst at the dinner table in the first film.

The buzz around a third film reignited late last year when Richard T. Jones posted a tongue-in-cheek TikTok referencing his character Mike’s betrayal of Sheila (played by Scott).
