Donald Glover Reveals He Suffered a Stroke During 2024 Childish Gambino Tour

Donald Glover has shared for the first time that a stroke he suffered last year forced him to halt his Childish Gambino New World Tour. The Grammy-winning artist opened up about the medical emergency during his surprise appearance at Camp Flog Gnaw on Nov. 23, telling fans the incident unfolded mid-performance during the Louisiana stop of his 2024 world tour.

Glover recalled feeling a sudden, severe pain in his head while on stage. “I did the show anyway,” he said in a clip posted on X. “I couldn’t really see well, so when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital and the doctor was like, ‘You had a stroke.’”

In a moment of dark humor, he compared the experience to Jamie Foxx’s 2023 medical scare, which was later confirmed to be caused by a stroke. “The first thing I thought was, ‘Oh, here I am still copying Jamie Foxx,’” he joked. “The first real thing was, ‘I’m letting everybody down.’”

Glover revealed that doctors discovered “a hole in his heart,” leading to multiple surgeries. He thanked fans for their support and reflected on the fragility of life: “They say everybody has two lives, and the second life starts when you realize you have one. You’ve got one life, guys… and the life I’ve lived with you has been such a blessing.”

He urged the crowd to live fully and optimistically, adding, “If we have to do this again, it can only get better.”

The revelation comes a year after Glover abruptly canceled the remaining dates of his North American and European tour. At the time, he confirmed he had been hospitalized but offered no details—until now.
