The award show, known as culture’s biggest night, was held on Sunday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Both Beyoncé and Blue Ivy were nominated for awards, but the Carters did not attend the event.
Blue Ivy was nominated for the YoungStars Award, which honours young entertainers who have made an impact in television, film, music, or sports. Other nominees included Akira Akbar, Demi Singleton, Heiress Diana Harris, JaBria McCullum, Jalyn Hall, Leah Jeffries, and 5-year-old rapper Van Van, who gave a standout performance during the show.
Not all winners were announced during the live broadcast, and Blue Ivy’s category was among those not shown. However, after the show, BET shared the news, and Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment company posted a congratulatory message on Instagram: “Congratulations to Blue Ivy Carter on winning the 2024 BET YoungStars Award!”
This win adds to Blue Ivy’s growing list of accomplishments. She holds the record as the youngest person to ever appear on a Billboard chart, thanks to her feature on her dad Jay-Z’s 2012 song “Glory.” Recently, her younger sister Rumi Carter broke her record as the youngest female artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 with her feature on Beyoncé’s song “Protector.”
Blue Ivy also remains the youngest person to receive a BET Award after winning the Her Award for “Brown Skin Girl.”
Beyoncé, often called Queen Bey, was nominated for five awards at the BET show, including Best Movie for “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best Collaboration for “America Has a Problem (Remix),” Viewer’s Choice Award for “Texas Hold ‘Em,” and the Her Award for “16 Carriages.” She won the Viewer’s Choice Award.
