Doechii Takes a Stand Against Donald Trump and ICE During the 2025 BET Awards

Doechii has had an incredible year, but her focus extends beyond just her own success. At the 2025 BET Awards, she criticized Donald Trump and ICE for their recent arrests of immigrants in Los Angeles.

After winning the award for Best Female Hip-Hop artist at age 26, defeating competitors like Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Sexyy Red, GloRilla, Doja Cat, Latto, and Rapsody, her mind was occupied with different matters. “I want to speak on what’s occurring outside of this venue,” she stated.

“There are cruel assaults instilling fear and chaos within our communities under the guise of law and order. Trump is deploying military forces to disrupt a protest, and I urge you to reflect on what kind of government this is when we see military action against us each time we exercise our democratic right to protest. What kind of government is that?”

Doechii shared her concerns about immigrants being torn away from their families and emphasized her intention to use her platform to shed light on these horrific events. “For Black individuals, for Latino individuals, for trans individuals, for the people in Gaza,” she continued.

“We all have the right to live in hope rather than fear, and I hope we unite, my brothers and my sisters, in standing against hate and protesting it.” Watch her speech above.

The TDE artist added this BET award to her collection, which already includes a Grammy for Best Rap Album. Her 2024 mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal, started as a fan favorite and eventually climbed the Billboard 200, reaching a peak of No. 10.

The project featured one artist, Fetish, and included production from notable names like Camper, Childish Major, Kal Banx, Monte Booker, and others.
