Keke Palmer and SZA’s Buddy Comedy, Produced by Issa Rae, Adds Dewayne Perkins, Gabrielle Dennis, DomiNQue Perry, and Amin Joseph to Cast

The upcoming buddy comedy featuring SZA and Keke Palmer continues to take shape, with several new cast members joining the project.

According to Variety, the untitled TriStar Pictures comedy has recently added a diverse ensemble, including Dewayne Perkins, creator and star of The Blackening, along with Gabrielle Dennis of A Black Lady Sketch Show, DomiNque Perry from Diarra from Detroit, and Amin Joseph from Snowfall.

Additionally, the film will feature Tony Baker, Nefetari Spencer, and Rizi Timane. These new faces join an already impressive cast that includes Lil Rel Howery, Katt Williams, Janelle James, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Maude Apatow, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Joshua Neal, Patrick Cage, and Aziza Scott.

Details about the plot and characters remain tightly under wraps, leaving fans in suspense. However, given the involvement of Issa Rae, known for her work on Insecure and Rap Sh!t, the film’s tone is expected to resonate with fans of her previous projects.

Rae is producing alongside Rap Sh!t showrunner Syreeta Singleton, who is also penning the screenplay, while Rap Sh!t director Lawrence Lamont is set to direct. MACRO Film Studios is producing and co-financing the film.

Keke Palmer is also on board as an executive producer through her production company, Big Boss, with Sharon Palmer as an executive producer. Singleton co-produces alongside Rae and Sara Diya Rastogi under Rae’s production company, Hoorae. Additional producers include ColorCreative’s Deniese Davis, and MACRO’s Charles D. King, James Lopez, and Poppy Hanks.

With such a powerhouse of talent both in front of and behind the camera, this comedy is shaping up to be a highly anticipated release.
