Michelle Obama Talks About Personal Choices Amid Divorce Rumors

Former First Lady Michelle Obama recently spoke on Sophia Bush’s podcast, “Work in Progress,” where she addressed rumors about her marriage to former President Barack Obama.

She clarified that her absence at certain high-profile events, like former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and President Donald Trump’s inauguration, were personal decisions.

Michelle stressed that these choices were about focusing on her own life and needs, not because of problems in her marriage. She said that people often expect women to always consider others, which led to rumors when she made decisions for herself.

Michelle and Barack Obama have been married for 32 years and have two adult daughters, Sasha and Malia. Now, with more free time, Michelle is exploring what she wants to do, like whom to meet for lunch, where to travel, or simply saying yes to spontaneous plans with friends.

On their 32nd anniversary, Barack Obama celebrated their relationship with a loving message on Twitter, calling Michelle a wonderful partner and friend.

Since they left the White House, Michelle has been busy. She helped start a production company called Higher Ground Productions and launched her own projects, including a podcast and writing books like “Becoming” and “The Light We Carry.”

She continues to speak publicly and supports education for girls, even though she has stepped back from some political roles.

The Obamas have openly talked about the challenges in their relationship, especially during stressful times. Barack mentioned in his memoir, “A Promised Land,” how they’ve worked through these issues without giving up.
