Wendy Williams Manhattan Penthouse Sold by Court-Appointed Guardian

The Manhattan penthouse once owned by former talk show host Wendy Williams has reportedly been sold by her court-appointed guardian, signalling the end of her ownership of the Financial District property.

According to the New York Post, the sale was finalized on May 10. Records indicate that the 59-year-old was deemed “incapacitated,” necessitating the intervention of a guardian to make decisions regarding the property.

“Wendy’s dream has always been to live in Manhattan in a dream apartment, but she never got a chance to do so,” lamented an insider, reflecting on the “very unfortunate situation.”

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom penthouse fetched $3.75 million in the sale, a notable decrease of $822,000 from its purchase price in 2021.

Before the sale, Williams bid farewell to the personal belongings that once adorned the space, including her iconic purple chair used during her “Hot Topics” segment on her talk show.

In 2023, Williams received a sobering diagnosis from her medical team, revealing that she was battling primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

Adding to her health challenges, reports emerged earlier this year indicating that Williams faced a substantial tax lien on her New York City condo, owing $568,451.57 in back taxes spanning 2019 to 2021.

Fans gained insight into Williams’ personal struggles through a Lifetime documentary series titled Where is Wendy?, where she candidly discussed her financial difficulties and admitted to having “no money” left.

Concerns were raised in February by the Daily Beast regarding Williams’ apprehensions about her team potentially exploiting the financial guardianship appointed by the court.

Lifetime released two additional projects delving into Williams’ life: Wendy Williams: The Movie and Wendy Williams: What a Mess. Williams hosted her popular talk show from 2008 to 2021, after which guest hosts took over until its cancellation in 2022.
