Hollywood star Zendaya has finally addressed the awkward moment from her recent interview with Sunrise’s Edwina Bartholomew that left viewers cringing.
The interview, which took place last week, saw Bartholomew, a Channel Seven newsreader, ask the 27-year-old American actress who was the ‘best kisser’ among her co-stars Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor in her new movie, Challengers.
Zendaya, during her press interviews for the film, addressed the uncomfortable television moment and expressed confusion over why she’s still asked explicitly about her kissing scenes. “I don’t know if it’s because they want it to be like a viral thing, I don’t know.
But I have noticed that, with me specifically,” she told Jake’s Takes host Jake Hamilton.
The actress further noted that such questions might not have been posed if it was someone else in her place.
She also pointed out that kissing scenes are a ‘normal part’ of her job as an actress. “Yeah, it is odd,” she added, before thanking Jake for pointing out that ‘nobody else gets asked’ those types of questions.
The controversial Sunrise clip, shot during the media junket for the new film Challengers, began with Bartholomew asking the trio, ‘But who is the best kisser?’ This was a reference to the steamy scene where they all make out with each other.
Zendaya, who is dating Spiderman star Tom Holland, appeared taken aback by the question and responded with a non-committal ‘Hm?’ as though pretending not to have heard it.
To her relief, Mike Faist, 32, jumped in to cover and said, ‘Josh,’ to pull the attention away from his discomforted colleague1.
The exchange quickly went viral, with fans from around the world flocking to social media to express their views on the awkward interview.
