Stephen Curry Ends Sneaker Free Agency With Massive 10-Year Li-Ning Deal

NBA superstar Stephen Curry has started a new chapter in his business and sports career after signing a significant 10-year global partnership with Chinese sportswear company Li-Ning. This partnership ends one of the most watched sneaker free agencies in basketball history. The deal is more than just a footwear endorsement; it aims to turn Curry Brand into a truly global sports and lifestyle business.

This agreement follows Curry’s exit from Under Armour in late 2025, which ended a relationship lasting over ten years that helped establish one of basketball’s most recognized signature shoe lines. Since entering sneaker free agency, Curry spent the 2025-26 season wearing and testing shoes from different brands while considering the next step for his brand’s growth.

Details released on June 1 and June 2 show that the new partnership includes more than just basketball shoes. The agreement covers performance footwear, apparel, athleisure products, a dedicated golf line. It allows Curry to sign and develop athletes under the Curry Brand name. This setup gives the four-time NBA champion a wider platform to influence sports culture and athlete development on a global level.

According to reports, in announcing the partnership, Curry called it “the partnership of a lifetime.” He stressed that this collaboration aims to build something bigger than a typical endorsement deal. He noted opportunities in brand creation, innovation, storytelling, and inspiring the next generation of athletes worldwide.

“I couldn’t be more proud to build a long-term vision with Li-Ning that will fuel Curry Brand for years to come and unlock the full potential of this company on a global scale,” Curry said in a personal letter announcing the deal. “We’ll aim to create game-changing products, launch elevated platforms, and bring storytelling that will inspire young boys and girls around the globe. My hope is for young athletes to find the same purpose, joy, and drive through sports that I’ve long enjoyed throughout this journey.”

This move greatly widens Curry Brand’s international reach. Li-Ning has grown into one of Asia’s largest sportswear companies, running more than 7,600 retail locations across the region. The company has a strong presence in China’s basketball market and already has ties with notable basketball figures. They include Dwyane Wade and Curry’s Golden State Warriors teammate Jimmy Butler.

Curry mentioned that his experience watching fellow athletes wear Li-Ning footwear was key in his decision. He also expressed respect for company founder Li Ning, who transitioned from Olympic champion to global business leader, reflecting the kind of legacy Curry wishes to create with his own brand.

Curry’s partnership illustrates a shift toward athlete-led business models. Instead of merely endorsing products, top athletes are becoming leaders in building global brands that can impact sports, fashion, culture, and youth development.

For Curry, whose career includes multiple NBA championships, MVP awards, and a reputation as one of the sport’s most influential players, the Li-Ning partnership may be remembered as a significant achievement off the court. It offers the infrastructure, global reach, and strategic options needed to grow Curry Brand far beyond basketball.

As he nears the later stages of his playing career, Curry seems focused on creating something that will last beyond basketball. The new 10-year agreement positions him as not only one of the game’s greatest players but also as one of sports’ most ambitious brand builders, creating opportunities that could influence athletes and entrepreneurs for years to come.
