The clothes worn by Sean “Diddy” Combs in the Oscar-winning film Monster’s Ball are set to go under the hammer, offering fans a unique piece of Hollywood and hip-hop history.
GWS Auctions has listed the ensemble—blue jeans, a sweatshirt, and shoes—worn by Combs in his role as Lawrence Musgrove, a death row inmate, in the acclaimed 2001 drama. Monster’s Ball is widely remembered for Halle Berry’s powerful performance, which earned her the Best Actress Oscar and made her the first Black woman to win the award.
According to the auction house, the items up for bid include a white Hanes t-shirt, a light grey crew neck sweatshirt with cut-off sleeves, a pair of Faded Glory blue jeans, and black canvas slip-on shoes.
The auction is part of the site’s Artifacts of Hollywood and Music section. Live bidding begins June 7 at 10:00 a.m. PT, with an opening bid set at $100 and $20 increments.
“These are the actual clothes worn by Sean (P. Diddy) Combs in his portrayal of Lawrence Musgrove during the early and middle parts of the film—specifically the prison scenes and the emotional farewell with his character’s family,” the listing states.
The auction comes at a complicated moment for Combs, who is currently facing a high-profile federal trial on charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The music mogul has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he could face a life sentence.
The trial, now in its fourth week, has attracted public attention—and drama. On June 3, courtroom proceedings were briefly interrupted when a woman heckled Combs, accusing the court and observers of mocking his legacy. The presiding judge, Arun Subramanian, ordered her removal from the courtroom.
