Dame Dash Offers Roc-A-Fella Shares to Kendrick Lamar

In recent months, rumours have circulated about Dame Dash selling his shares of Roc-A-Fella Records. The co-founder appears serious about the sale and has even publicly declared who he hopes the purchaser will be.

On Thursday (June 6), Dash reached out to Kendrick Lamar via Instagram, writing, “@kendricklamar, my 3rd is for sale if you want to buy it. Any serious offers [arrow emoji] DM.”

Attached to this message was a screenshot of a tweet Lamar posted on June 5, 2010, where the rapper compared JAY-Z’s Reasonable Doubt to Nas’ Illmatic, ultimately favoring Jay’s project. “I’m sorry, Reasonable Doubt is better than Illmatic… #youcanunfollowmenow,” Kendrick wrote.

Roc-A-Fella’s Legal Troubles

Despite the well-documented fallout between Jay-Z, Dame Dash, and Kareem “Biggs” Burke, the trio remained business partners on paper for many years.

In February 2024, Roc-A-Fella Inc. was ordered to satisfy an $823,000 judgment to movie producer Josh Webber and Muddy Waters Films. A New York judge ruled that Roc-A-Fella Inc. must deliver Dash’s shares of the company to the U.S. Marshals to satisfy the debt.

Dame Dash has faced several financial challenges since parting ways with his Roc-A-Fella co-founders. According to Rolling Stone, in 2019, he was arrested for failing to pay over $400,000 in child support to his ex-wife Rachel Roy.

On The CEO Show with Dr. Taje Moreno last November, Dash described himself as “proud broke,” admitting he could not afford the annual child support payments of $300,000 to $400,000 to Roy.

Dash has frequently made headlines for his comments about Jay-Z. Recently, on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion show, he claimed that Jay-Z was trying to emulate him, especially on the track “Big Pimpin’.”

“Everything Jay said he was pretending to be me, yes,” Dash stated. “Who’s the CEO, who was big pimpin’? Who was doing all those things? It was me.”

Dash’s offer to Kendrick Lamar marks a significant moment in the ongoing saga of Roc-A-Fella Records and its founders. Whether Lamar will take up the offer remains to be seen, but it certainly adds another layer to the complex history of the iconic label.
