Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence, both children of comedy royalty, just pulled off a Hollywood plot twist: a secret wedding. The couple, who got engaged last year, decided to keep things intimate, skipping the red carpet for a private “just us” ceremony.

The big news came straight from Eric’s dad, Eddie Murphy, during his appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. Eddie shared with a smile, “They actually got married, like, two weeks ago. We were all busy planning this huge wedding, but they wanted something quiet with just the two of them.”

When Jennifer asked about joining forces with Martin Lawrence Jasmin’s dad, Eddie joked, “Yeah, we’re in-laws now! And Martin doesn’t have to worry about paying for a massive wedding.”

If you remember, Martin Lawrence had already teased this playful back-and-forth earlier in the year. On Sherri Shepherd’s show, he laughed about how Eddie, who’s famously supported his many children through their weddings, passed the bill for this one over to him.

“Eddie said, ‘You’re paying for this one!’ and honestly, I didn’t mind,” Martin admitted. “Eric is just so chill and cool, just like his dad.”

Jasmin, 29, and Eric, 35, first let the world in on their relationship in 2021, officially announcing their engagement in November 2024. They were recently spotted together at the “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” premiere, looking every bit the happy couple.
