Kandi Burruss’ $200K Harassment Claim Against Landlord Rejected by Judge

R&B star and former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast member Kandi Burruss is embroiled in a heated legal dispute with the landlord of her Atlanta steakhouse, Blaze, US Weekly reports.

The latest twist saw Burruss and her husband, Todd Tucker, request an emergency court hearing, claiming the landlord, Montego Pacific, engaged in harassment as their legal fight intensifies.

According to court filings, Burruss Tucker Restaurant Group sought immediate court intervention after Montego Pacific sent a letter on June 13, demanding $190,450 in back rent and instructing the restaurant to resume full operations within five days.

The letter was issued outside of the ongoing lawsuit, which Montego Pacific initiated in March 2025.

Burruss’s legal team argued that the landlord’s actions were unethical and a violation of public policy, alleging that Montego Pacific was attempting to use threats of criminal or judicial proceedings to gain leverage in the case.

However, the court ultimately denied the emergency motion. In a statement to US Weekly, Montego Pacific’s attorney called the request “without merit.”

The lawsuit centers on allegations that the Burrusses failed to properly maintain the restaurant premises, resulting in $56,000 in repair costs for the landlord. Montego Pacific further claims the tenants owe $154,000 in unpaid rent for the space, which has housed Blaze Steakhouse since its opening in 2020.

When the lawsuit first came to light, Kandi Burruss said she was surprised to be named as a defendant and characterized the dispute as a disagreement over repairs and responsibility for costs. “They had to drop my name off… I think they just put my name on there anyway so that they could get publicity for the lawsuit,” she told reporters.

The situation appears to have reached a standstill. According to Reality Tea, Montego Pacific is refusing to accept any further payments from the Burrusses unless all outstanding rent, repair fees, and accrued interest are paid in full.
