Cassie Ventura says Sean “Diddy” Combs’ 50-month federal sentence is a step toward accountability, even as she continues to recover from years of trauma linked to their relationship.
In a statement issued by her attorney, Doug Wigdor, after Combs’ Oct. 3 sentencing on two prostitution-related charges, Ventura—who testified over four days while pregnant and later wrote to the judge urging a meaningful penalty, expressed gratitude that the court recognized the seriousness of his conduct.
“While nothing can undo the trauma caused by Combs, the sentence imposed today recognizes the impact of the serious offenses he committed,” Wigdor said. “With the support of her family and friends, Ms. Ventura will continue healing, knowing her bravery has inspired many.”
Cassie Ventura’s letter to Judge Arun Subramanian described a decade marked by “constant hypervigilance,” ongoing nightmares and flashbacks, and the need for continued psychological care.
Cassie also said safety concerns forced her to move her family from the New York area and keep a low profile, adding that she fears retaliation against herself and others who spoke out.
Outside court, attorney Gloria Allred—who represents additional alleged victims, aid the sentence ensures Combs “pays the price” and offers some relief to clients who worried he might soon be released. “They were very much afraid that he would retaliate,” Allred said. “They will be happy that he will be in prison for a number of years.”
Ventura’s camp emphasized that accountability is only one part of the process, and that her focus now is on recovery, privacy, and continued support from loved ones.
