Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has formally declined to testify in his ongoing sex trafficking trial, confirming his decision in court on Tuesday, June 24, before U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian.
According to TMZ, the exchange was brief and cordial. When asked how he was feeling, Diddy replied, “I’m doing great, your honor. I’ve been wanting to tell you thank you, you’re doing an excellent job.”
The judge acknowledged the comment before confirming that the choice to waive his right to testify was Combs’ alone. The Bad Boy Records founder responded that he had discussed the matter extensively with his legal team before making the final decision.
Combs’ defense team also confirmed they would not be calling any witnesses to the stand. Instead, they presented minimal evidence following the prosecution’s final witness—Homeland Security Investigations special agent Joseph Cerciello, who concluded the government’s case earlier that day.
The prosecution’s lineup has included explosive testimony from several individuals, including Combs’ former girlfriend Cassie, an unnamed accuser referred to as “Jane Doe,” rapper Kid Cudi, as well as former sex workers and employees linked to Combs’ inner circle.
These testimonies aim to support the charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.
With the defense officially resting its case, the jury has been dismissed until Thursday, June 26, when closing arguments are scheduled to begin.
Diddy, who has maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings, faces a potential sentence of 15 years to life in prison if convicted.
