Darius McCrary, best known as Eddie Winslow on the 1990s sitcom Family Matters, was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol on Oct. 5 near the U.S.–Mexico border in San Diego on an out-of-state felony warrant, according to People. Jail records show the 49-year-old is being held without bail on a fugitive arrest.
Authorities have not publicly detailed the underlying charge. A representative for McCrary told TMZ the warrant stems from a missed court appearance related to unpaid child support.

McCrary’s child-support disputes date back years. In 2015, he was arrested for arrears before paying $5,500 to secure release. Following his 2017 divorce from ex-wife Tammy Brawner—mother of their daughter, Zoey—McCrary was ordered to pay $1,366 per month; Brawner received sole legal and physical custody in an agreement finalized in 2019.
Court orders also required McCrary to attend alcohol/drug treatment and a batterers’ intervention program, with professionally monitored visitation. Brawner previously alleged McCrary injured their child, an accusation he has denied.
In November 2023, Darius was arrested again for failure to pay child support; filings indicated more than $52,000 was owed as of March 2019. He pleaded not guilty to the felony charges.
The ABC/CBS sitcom Family Matters ran nine seasons (1989–1998), centering on the Winslow family and their neighbor Steve Urkel. McCrary is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 15.
