Floyd Mayweather has ignited fresh controversy after declaring unwavering support for Israel while accepting an honor at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual leadership summit in Las Vegas (Oct. 31–Nov. 2).
Taking the stage, the retired, undefeated champion vowed he “will always be the voice for the people in Israel,” a line that drew applause in the room and swift backlash across social media once clips of the speech circulated.
The RJC recognized Mayweather with its “World Champion for Israel” award, highlighting his outspoken stance since the Gaza war and his recent appearances at pro-Israel events.
Video from the conference shows Mayweather doubling down on his position, telling attendees he stands “100 percent” with Israel. Online reaction was immediate and polarized, with critics condemning the remarks and supporters praising his consistency.
Mayweather’s comments follow a documented track record of financial support for Israeli emergency services. In December 2024, he donated $1 million at United Hatzalah’s Miami gala, part of a fundraiser that brought in $14 million for the volunteer first-responder group. He also previously contributed $100,000 for protective gear during the 2023–24 conflict.
Outside the political storm, Mayweather’s next move in the ring remains fluid. He has been linked to a 2026 exhibition with former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, a spectacle that has generated headlines but not yet produced finalized details.
Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao—beaten by Mayweather in their 2015 mega-fight, says his camp is in talks for a bona fide rematch that could land as early as April 2026 in Las Vegas, a development that could supersede any Tyson exhibition.
Whether Mayweather’s ring plans feature Tyson, Pacquiao, or both, his latest foray into the U.S. political arena ensures he will remain a lightning rod well beyond boxing’s ropes
