LeBron James and Naomi Osaka Launch Athlete-Led Travel Series “Off Day”

NBA icon LeBron James and tennis sensation Naomi Osaka are teaming up off the court and off the field for a new docuseries that peels back the curtain on what sports stars do when the spotlight is off.
The project, titled Off Day, is a collaboration between James’ athlete storytelling platform Uninterrupted, Osaka’s Hana Kuma production company, and UltraBoom Media, the team behind the acclaimed “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.” The show made its debut on July 16 and promises to take viewers on a global tour with some of the world’s biggest athletes.
In each bi-weekly episode, a top-tier athlete gives viewers an intimate tour of their home city, blending local culture, food, and personal stories. The first episode follows Osaka as she leads the crew through the streets of Tokyo, sharing what home means to her.
The series isn’t just about sightseeing; it’s about seeing athletes in a whole new light—showing the passions, places, and people that shape them outside of their sport.
Future episodes will spotlight Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in Toronto, Houston Rockets center Alperen Şengün in Istanbul, and WTA world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka as she explores New York City.
According to producers, Off Day is much more than a travel show—it’s about breaking barriers between sports, food, and culture. UltraBoom Media’s Erik Osterholm describes the show as “sitting at the intersection of two of our most celebrated universal languages, food and sports. Two things that transcend borders, languages, and cultures.”
For Osaka, who both executive produces and stars in the debut episode, the series is personal. “We created Hana Kuma to tell layered, honest stories like this—ones that go beyond the game and show the person,” she says. “I’m proud to kick it off and to collaborate with Uninterrupted and UBM, who share our vision of showing athletes in a fuller, more human light.”
The show partners with The Infatuation, Chase Travel, and Chase Sapphire, reinforcing its focus on culture and culinary adventures as well as star power. And with James and Osaka’s names attached, Off Day is already drawing attention as a “limitless brand,” not just a series.
Uninterrupted’s Elyse Kellogg adds that the project “gives fans a deeper look into the culture and lifestyle of their favorite athletes. It also marks a broader effort to grow our storytelling and distribution through strategic partnerships—in ways that feel personal and relatable.
Off Day is the second collaboration between James and Osaka, following the tennis star’s documentary “The Second Set,” which chronicles her return to the court after motherhood and will premiere on Tubi in August.
By letting athletes take the reins of storytelling, the show promises a behind-the-scenes look at the people behind the records—one city, and one “off day,” at a time.
