NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal has teamed up with Campus, a modern two-year college, to launch a scholarship initiative aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs pursuing degrees in Business Administration or IT.
Campus, designed for the next generation of creators, innovators, and online leaders, will provide selected students with the resources and mentorship needed to succeed in business. O’Neal expressed his excitement about the program, saying, “I’ve always believed in hard work, grit, and surrounding yourself with the right people.
This is about building confidence, creating opportunity, and helping students turn potential into power. I can’t wait to meet this year’s class of scholars.”
The “Shaq Scholar” program, part of Campus’ Merit Scholars initiative, offers accepted students a full-tuition scholarship for an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration or IT.
Scholars will also receive a laptop, Wi-Fi, and two years of immersive learning experiences. In addition, they will benefit from mentorship by industry leaders in Silicon Valley and personal coaching from faculty with teaching experience at prestigious institutions such as Stanford, Princeton, and Howard.
Campus’ curriculum combines live and online classes, with options to specialize in Applied AI. Alumni of the program have gone on to attend top-tier universities, including NYU, Penn State, and Temple University.
Founded by entrepreneur Tade Oyerinde, Campus is supported by notable investors and entrepreneurs such as Sam Altman, Peter Thiel, Joe Lonsdale, Jason Citron, and Dylan Field. The college’s board of trustees includes leaders affiliated with Morehouse College, LaGuardia Community College, Miami Dade College, Dallas College, and Columbia University.
Chancellor Oyerinde highlighted the significance of the initiative, saying, “Maximizing access to world-class education has always been the name of the game. It’s obviously super exciting that legends like Shaquille O’Neal are contributing to that.”
