Kendrick Lamar to Headline Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans: Key Details

Kendrick Lamar will headline the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show on February 9 in New Orleans. The announcement was made by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL on Sunday.

“Kendrick Lamar is a one-of-a-kind artist and performer,” said Jay-Z in a statement. “His deep connection to hip-hop and culture shapes his artistic vision. He has the ability to influence and shape culture worldwide. Kendrick’s work goes beyond music, and his impact will last for years.”

The show will be produced by DPS in partnership with Roc Nation, with executive producer Jesse Collins and director Hamish Hamilton. Lamar’s creative company, pgLang, will handle the creative direction of the performance.

This won’t be Lamar’s first time at the Super Bowl. He previously performed in 2022 as part of Dr. Dre’s halftime show, alongside Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and 50 Cent.

Recent halftime shows have been very successful, and organizers hope to keep that going. Usher’s 2024 show became the most-watched Super Bowl halftime performance ever and earned three Emmy nominations. Rihanna’s 2023 show won two Emmys, and the 2022 show, featuring Lamar, won three Creative Arts Emmys.

Apple’s Vice President, Oliver Schusser, shared his excitement about Lamar’s upcoming performance.

“The Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show celebrates music and the amazing artists behind it,” Schusser said. “We’re excited to bring Kendrick Lamar to fans around the world with Apple Music’s top-notch audio quality, exclusive videos, interviews, playlists, and more.”

Lamar, who has won 17 Grammy Awards, is known for his powerful music. His 2017 album Damn. was one of his biggest successes, earning him a Pulitzer Prize, making him the first artist outside of classical or jazz to win the award.

This Super Bowl news comes during a big year for Lamar, with his hit song “Not Like Us” staying at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks, following a musical feud with Drake.
