Sean “Diddy” Combs, the prominent rapper and music producer, is currently facing a barrage of serious allegations, ranging from sexual assault to sex trafficking.

These claims, which span over three decades, have put the spotlight on Combs’ conduct and raised questions about the broader culture within the entertainment industry.

KEY ALLEGATIONS AGAINST DIDDY

The allegations against Combs include a variety of disturbing accusations:

  1. 2016 Assault on Cassie: Recently released surveillance footage shows Combs physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, in 2016. The video aligns with claims made in a lawsuit filed by Cassie, who accused Combs of attacking her as she tried to escape further abuse at a hotel. This lawsuit was settled last year for an undisclosed amount.
  2. 2018 Rape Accusation by Cassie: In November of last year, Cassie filed a $30 million lawsuit against Combs, alleging that he raped her in 2018 and subjected her to years of physical abuse and control over her personal and professional life. This lawsuit was also settled amicably, with no admission of wrongdoing from Combs.
  3. 1991 Sexual Assault Lawsuit by Joie Dickerson-Neal: Later in November, Joie Dickerson-Neal accused Combs of drugging, sexually assaulting, and secretly recording her while she was a college student in 1991.
  4. Early 1990s Rape Allegations: An anonymous plaintiff has accused Combs and singer Aaron Hall of raping her and a friend in the early 1990s after meeting at an MCA Records event. This lawsuit was filed just before the expiration of a New York law that temporarily allowed older assault allegations to be pursued.
  5. 2003 Gang Rape Accusation: In December, another lawsuit claimed Combs was involved in the drugging and gang rape of a 17-year-old in 2003.
  6. Sex-Trafficking Allegations by Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones: The most recent lawsuit, filed by producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, alleges that Combs directed unwanted advances towards him and forced him to engage with sex workers. Jones also accused Combs of hosting “sex-trafficking parties” involving underage women and illegal drugs.

In March, federal agents raided Combs’ homes in Los Angeles and Miami as part of a sex trafficking probe. Although the investigation details are unclear, NBC News and the Associated Press reported that the searches were linked to these allegations.

To date, Diddy has not been charged or formally accused by federal prosecutors.

PUBLIC AND LEGAL RESPONSES

Combs has consistently denied all allegations against him. His attorneys have characterized the lawsuits as “baseless,” “sickening,” and financially motivated. Despite the serious nature of the claims, Combs has not faced any criminal charges.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office commented on the 2016 video, describing it as “extremely disturbing,” but indicated that no charges would be filed due to the statute of limitations.

These allegations are the latest in a series of controversies that have followed Combs since the 1990s, when he founded Bad Boy Records. The entertainment industry has been rocked by similar allegations against other high-profile figures, prompting broader discussions about abuse and accountability within the sector.

One of Combs’ raided homes, located in the affluent Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, was purchased for $40 million a decade ago, underscoring his significant wealth and influence.
