Vanessa Bryant Gifts LA Dodgers Exclusive Kobe Footwear on Mamba Day

On April 13, commemorated as “Mamba Day” in honor of the late Los Angeles Lakers icon Bryant’s final NBA game anniversary, Vanessa Bryant, his widow, presented the Los Angeles Dodgers with exclusive Kobe footwear.

As reported by Sports Illustrated, the Major League Baseball team received the Nike Kobe 6 LA Dodgers PE shoes on April 13, marking the eighth anniversary of Mamba Day.

Each member of the Dodgers was gifted a pair of personalized Kobes. Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts expressed his excitement, stating, “These are ridiculous. I’m going to rock these with Mamba pride.”

For Kobe Bryant fans, it was a thrilling moment. Nike also joined in celebrating Mamba Day by re-releasing three previous versions of the sneakers: the Kobe 8 Protro Venice Beach, the Kobe 6 Protro Italian Camo, and the Kobe 4 Protro Philly.

These sneakers were made available for purchase on the SNKRS app or the Nike website, each priced at $190. Additionally, the Kobe 8 Protro Venice Beach was offered at $120 for grade school sizes and $90 for little kids’ sizes.

In a surprise move, Nike’s competitor, Adidas, launched a Kobe-branded sneaker on Mamba Day. The Adidas Crazy 98 was priced at $150 and sold through the Adidas website.

Bryant, renowned for his illustrious career with the Lakers, secured five NBA championships, earned two Finals MVP titles, and was crowned the NBA Most Valuable Player in 2008.

Throughout his tenure, he amassed numerous accolades, including 18 All-Star selections and the distinction of being the youngest player to reach 30,000 points.

Bryant retired from professional basketball in 2016, concluding his remarkable journey with a memorable NBA season-high of 60 points in his final game.

Tragically, the basketball legend, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others, lost their lives in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on January 26, 2020.
