50 Cent Sues Ex Shaniqua Tompkins Over Breach of Life Rights Agreement

Rapper and entrepreneur 50 Cent has filed a lawsuit against his ex-girlfriend, Shaniqua Tompkins, alleging she violated a long-standing agreement over the rights to her life story.
According to TMZ, 50 Cent’s publishing arm, G-Unit Books, is suing Tompkins for breach of contract after she posted stories about the rapper online and released a YouTube series, “Other Side of the Coin,” in 2023.
The series promised viewers “the untold truth of how she helped to build the G-Unit legacy and how Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson wouldn’t be who he is today without her.”
The lawsuit points to a 2007 contract where Tompkins, the mother of 50 Cent’s 28-year-old son Marquise Jackson, “irrevocably and exclusively” sold the rights to her life story for $80,000 plus future royalties. Under the agreement,
Tompkins was prohibited from publicly sharing or monetizing details about her life or her relationship with 50 Cent. The rapper’s legal team argues her recent videos and social media posts violated those terms, especially as she discussed sensitive topics around his past and ongoing public speculation regarding the Diddy criminal trial.
“Tompkins’ behavior was intentional—she explicitly referenced the very agreement she breached while she actively breached it, stating it was something that was ‘going to have to be worked out legally,’” said 50 Cent’s attorney, Reena Jain.
The lawsuit seeks at least $1 million in damages and a court order preventing Tompkins from posting further content related to her life story.
Tompkins has responded to the legal action on Instagram, hinting that she plans to go live later this week, but has not directly addressed the lawsuit’s claims.
