Wendy Williams Reportedly Fails Medical Evaluations, Guardianship Set to Continue

Wendy Williams’ ongoing legal battle to end her court-appointed guardianship has taken another difficult turn. According to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE, the former talk show host recently underwent a new series of medical and neuropsychological evaluations, including brain scans, to reassess her diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.
The results, the documents state, confirmed her original diagnosis, meaning her guardianship remains in place. Her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has since filed for an extension, asking the court to determine whether the guardianship should continue or eventually be dissolved.
Lawyer Disputes Diagnosis
Despite the findings outlined in the documents, Williams’ attorney, Joe Tacopina, is publicly disputing the reports. Speaking to TMZ, Tacopina called the dementia and aphasia diagnoses “false” and claimed they were being spread “by a party with a vested interest in keeping Wendy trapped under this excessive and restrictive guardianship.”
He also questioned the credibility of the leaked information, saying neither he nor his client had been given access to the medical report in question. “The critical questions are these:
Where is the actual medical report supporting this leak? And who is the doctor willing to go under oath and face cross-examination by me so the truth can be exposed?” he told the outlet.
A Prolonged Legal Fight
Williams’ guardianship was initially established after her 2023 diagnosis. The arrangement has been the subject of intense legal disputes, public speculation, and debate among fans, with many questioning both the validity of her medical condition and the motives of those overseeing her affairs.
For now, the latest evaluation reaffirms the court’s basis for keeping the guardianship in place. However, with her lawyer continuing to challenge the medical findings, the matter remains far from resolved.
Williams, once a dominant force in daytime television with The Wendy Williams Show, has seen her health struggles and legal battles unfold publicly in recent years. The case now heads back to court, where a judge will ultimately decide whether her guardianship continues.
